D-Backs Improve In Spite Of Loss By
Libbie Higley (1/27/09) On Jan. 20, the Lady D’s stepped on the court to play Fredonia. In the past, the Beaver Dam girls have been beaten by the Lynx, and by a considerable margin. But this year, that changed. Instead of a 79 point loss, it was only a 35 point loss last week. The game ended with a score of 57-22. The Lady D-backs took many things from this game. Roxy Salazar, Jessie Noble, and Joannie Hernandez all had some amazing blocks. Diane Hernandez had some great steals on defense. J. Hernandez and Janet Hermosillo were the lead scorers for BDHS, with five points each. Salazar followed with four, and Noble, Libbie Higley, Ashley Villegas, and D. Hernandez finished out the score with two points each. In the fourth quarter, Coach Frandsen took out the starting five and put in five new girls. After sitting on the bench for a few minutes, the starters realized that if the girls can come off the bench and step it up, so could they. They came off the bench and held
Fredonia at their final score of 57. Things are looking up for the Lady
D’s, so beware! |
