Swap Meet Meets With Success By Michele Kosar The Scenic Swap Meet wrapped up its fourth weekly event this past Sunday and it shows no signs of slowing down. “There had been many repeat shoppers, but this weekend there have been many newcomers,” said collectibles vendor Margie Waters. Margie has one of the ten booths set up behind the Scenic General Store, offering collectible Jim Beam bottles and Beanie babies, along with other miscellaneous collectible items. Other vendors specialize in Prom, Bridal and Resort clothing, housewares and furniture, handmade designs, knives, food and even birds. Top Hat Bird Farm owner Tom Benefield sold out all his cockatiels and parakeets early on Saturday. He, along with several others, have been at the Swap Meet since the beginning and plans to leave only when the weather turns too cold to hold the outdoor event. “We plan on keeping on every weekend until the weather drives us indoors,” states Debbie Rhea, co-owner of the Scenic General Store with her husband Jim, and supporter of the weekly Meet. Several booth vendors have online
businesses or shops in First time vendor Esperanza Lopez

Freshly prepared food is also available, including BBQ, tamales and tacos and a special menudo dish on Sundays. Vendor Sonny reports many lookers and wishes for “more advertising and word of mouth to get people out here.” He also suggests if more vendors
