Farewell…For Now

We gave it a shot.  And it looks like, in this instance, the naysayers were right.  The Arizona Strip isn’t ready for its own newspaper.  Yet.  With the hubris of a company that cares more about telling the truth than it cares about money, we thought that if we put out a good newspaper, everything else would take care of itself.  And in a better economy, we still believe that.  But the money simply isn’t there.  And in spite of our most noble of intentions to give the Arizona Strip its own voice, particularly in the face of a county government that doesn’t even acknowledge its existence and two larger nearby communities that sometimes don’t show enough respect for the 5,000 people of this northwestern Arizona enclave, money matters.  We still believe that the Strip deserves to have that voice.  We just can’t afford to pay for that voice anymore.  [read more...]
